The latest National Weather Service alert has increased snowfall projections to include widespread accumulations of 20-30 inches, with some locations expected to get more than 30 inches of snow.
Heavy snow and high winds are expected to create near-blizzard conditions. While the heaviest snowfall is expected to occur Saturday, conditions will deteriorate rapidly Friday afternoon.
Hazardous travel conditions are expected from Friday afternoon through the weekend.
The Town of Leesburg has declared a snow emergency effective at 10 a.m. Friday. No parking will be allowed on Market Street, Loudoun Street and King Street. Drivers are also asked to refrain from parking on other roadways to facilitate plowing.

All Loudoun County Parks and Recreation sports league activities have been canceled for Friday night and Saturday. A decision for Sunday usage will be made Saturday.
Virginia Regional Transit halted bus service at 5 p.m. on Friday because of hazardous road conditions. All VRT bus services for Saturday are cancelled. A decision about operations for Sunday, will be made by 2 p.m. Saturday.
